Communications Internship


TREE AID is an international development charity that helps some of the poorest people in Africa use trees to lift themselves out of poverty and protect the environment.

Internship opportunity

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated communications Intern to help support our communications activities. You will be joining TREE AID at an exciting time as we’ll soon be launching an external communications and fundraising appeal across the organisation this winter.
You will be part of the planning and also the delivery of our biggest ever communications and fundraising appeal.
Your role will be key in helping us promote the appeal to the public, primarily to external audiences but also connecting with TREE AID supporters. You will gain invaluable experience in a busy, professional communications and fundraising team. You will also be making a huge difference for some of the poorest families in the world.


• Supporting development and execution of appeal plan
• Drafting content for TREE AID’s social media communications
• Posting social media communications
• Approaching media outlets with editorial proposals
• Drafting press releases
• Supporting the fundraising team on TREE AID communication channels throughout the appeal

In return, you’ll receive:

Internship details

Starting date: Ongoing, from July/August 2017 onwards.
Location: The role is based in our UK head office, in Bristol city centre.
Duration: minimum commitment of 2 days a week for at least 3 months.
Depending on the skills and interests of applicants, this role could be split and covered by more than one person.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
• Ability to prioritise tasks and excellent time management
• Preferably a digital native, but definitely competent across digital channels
• Excellent computer skills and proficient in researching from online sources
• Excellent written communications skills
• A quick learner, with a motivated and adaptable approach
• Previous experience of working in an office or another professional environment
• A passion for the environment and sustainable development
