Fundraising ideas

Some ideas on how to raise the money…

Here are some fundraising tips to get you started, feel free to add soe others that have worked for you!

Start by asking everyone you know – it really does work and the people you ask the more you will raise! Try and get payment upfront, this means you don’t have to go back to them twice. Always keep a copy of your trusty sponsorship form on you or keep mailing out your online link out and try to start each new page with a generous donor as they sets a precedence for other sponsors.

Ask your employer for sponsorship or help with your fundraising. Many companies now offer pound for pound schemes so it’s always worth asking as you never know!

  • Make some extra lunches and sell them to your colleagues
  • Arrange a £10 menu at a local restaurant on one of their quiet mid week nights and charge 10 friends £20! (Do this twice a great night out and very easy)
  •  Hold a karaoke in your local pub for a percentage of the drink sales. Do a bucket collection on the same night to increase the money raised.
  • Car boot sales (have a good old clear out & get your friends and family in on the act too)
  • Ask your child’s or local school to hold a non uniform day for you
  • Organise your own quiz night and raffle
  • Friday night 3-legged or pyjama pub crawl!
  • Ask 10 business suppliers or suppliers for a nominal fee each
  • Hold a sweepstake based on a sporting event (e.g. the Grand National, 6 Nations)
  • Persuade a friend to wax their legs, sit in a bath of custard/beans
  • Hold a skills auction where you rope your friends in with certain skills (hairdressing, reflexology, gardening etc) to donate their skills for free

Most importantly tell the World!

You are doing something quite amazing – make sure you tell EVERYONE you know and even those you don’t! Contact your local newspapers and radio’s station too in case they can help!

With a bit of thought, planning and some help from your friends, you’ll have reached the target before you know it – GO FOR IT!
