“Our work today is to protect the trees because they are our future and the future of our children.” Mrs Somé, TREE AID beneficiary, Burkina Faso

Who We Work With

TREE AID works with a range of partners to deliver our programme including local non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and community based organisations (CBOs), national NGOs, international NGOs, government agencies and international organisations such as the UN's Food and Agriculture organisation (FAO).

Through these partnerships we seek to achieve greater:

Efficiency - To avoid duplicating work, matching indigenous expertise with external resources

Ownership & Participation - Sharing power and decision making with local people

Legitimacy - Establishing a local mandate for TREE AID

Sustainability - Strengthening capacity of local organisations to continue the work after funding ceases or formal partnership agreements run out.

Project selection
Organisations funded by TREE AID are called our local project partners. TREE AID currently has over 20 partners and looks to support projects in Burkina Faso, northern Ghana, Mali and Ethiopia that:

  • respond to local and national needs.
  • are community-based and work in partnership with beneficiary communities.
  • ensure equality of opportunity, particularly gender equality.
  • ensure sustainable benefits.
  • ensure equity in the distribution of benefits.
  • deliver benefits cost effectively.
  • help to achieve greater food, environmental and livelihood security.
