Programme themes

TREE AID works to improve lives and the environment by supporting communities in the following programme areas:

- environment
- enterprise
- access and rights
- food security

TREE AID programmes are delivered by local partner organizations who understand the needs of people in the poor rural communities where we work and with expertise in sustainable community development.

Community members and staff from local partner organisations work with TREE AID programme staff from our West Africa Office in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso and with our UK programme team to develop projects that will meed community needs on our four programme areas.

Sometimes these projects work on a small-scale with a single partner organisation in a small number of communities to transform lives and create opportunities. Larger projects stretch across regions and cross national borders and involve several local partner organisations who work at community, regional and national policy levels. All projects meet needs defined by communities and adopt strategies that are locally appropriate and that enable the long-terms benefits of trees to have the biggest impact.
