Dr Philip Goodwin has been Chief Executive of TREE AID since June 2010.
Philip previously spent 11 years with British Council where in his last role he was in charge of Global Programmes. He had previously been Regional Director for both sub Saharan and East and West African operations based in Nairobi, Kenya as well as holding leadership positions for them in Belgium, Pakistan and Uganda.
Before joining the British Council, Philip was a researcher on poverty issues at the Overseas Development Institute and a community development worker in Mali, West Africa.
Philip has a PhD and MSc in environmental policy and a degree in agricultural economics. He is co-author of the leadership book “From Hippos to Gazelles: How Leaders Create Leaders” with the leadership consultant Tony Page. He is on the Africa Advisory Council for The World Monument Fund.

Geoff is responsible for ensuring that TREE AID has the financial, human and physical resources that are needed to achieve its strategic objectives. He started working for TREE AID in 2009.
Geoff has over 30 years experience working in public practice, advising commercial and not-for-profit clients on financial management. He has four years experience working directly for charities leading on finance, HR and administration.

Felicity joined TREE AID in January 1999 as an Administrative officer. In April 2002 she became the WA Office Manager. As the Finance and Support Manager since 2007 she has been ensuring that our West Africa Office in Ouagadougou has the appropriate premises, equipment and logistics and that the HR and funds are well managed. She also provides the necessary support for the implementation of TREE AID programme in West Africa.
Felicity has over 13 years experience. Prior to working for TREE AID, she worked for a UNDP project aiming at promoting the conservation of biodiversity in the Nazinga Game Ranch in Burkina Faso.
Felicity holds a degree in Administration, a Masters in English and a post graduate Diploma in Project Management.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for England and Wales, a member of the Charity and Voluntary Sector group and a member of the Charity Finance Directors Group.

Marian Rose

Marian started as the Head of Fundraising and Communications in July 2011. She joined Tree Aid with experience in fundraising and communications with some of the UKs major charity brands. Most recently she was responsible for developing fundraising in Brazil, India and Canada on behalf of Save the Children International. Prior to that she headed up the mass fundraising teams at Save the Children UK and the NSPCC. She won many awards for co-ordinating the Full Stop launch as Head of Communications at the NSPCC. Marian has also been a trustee for Y Care International and has helped develop Codes of Best Practise for the Institute of Fundraising.

Sarah has been developing corporate and community partnerships at TREE AID since 2009. Previously she has worked as Events Marketing Manager supporting business development for Triodos Bank, and as a Campaign Assistant for Friends of the Earth UK. She studied Social Anthropology and Swahili at SOAS and has lived in Tanzania.

Sarah manages the individual donor function of the Fundraising team. Sarah has recently joined TREEAID in April 2011. Previously she worked as a Consultant for Low Carbon South West and as a Marketing Manager at Bordeaux Quay. She has earlier experience working within the charity sector for hft (formally the Home Farm Trust) and also the Refugee Clinicians Programme. She studied Computing and Information Systems at university and has an Institute of Fundraising Diploma.

Tony has worked with TREE AID since 2004, running the programme department. He facilitates and strengthens the ability of our staff in Africa to implement work on the ground, through securing grants, policy development and systems support.
Tony has a BSc and MSc in Forestry, and has 20 years experience working in international development, including time spent working in West Africa, Malawi, Bangladesh and the Caribbean.

Sylvestre develops, resources and co-ordinates the West African programmes whilst Yacouba is on sabbatical.
Sylvestre recently retired as co-coordinator of Burkina Faso’s UNDP Environment Programme. He is a Senior Forester with more than 34 years experience. He has been Director of various forestry departments and held consultancies for various organisations including the World Bank, FAO, UICN, IIED, CILSS. He also taught at the Forestry department of the University of Ouagadougou from 1980 to 1982 and was offered the post of Minister of the Environment.

Ludovic joined TREE AID in 2002 to work as a project officer. Since 2007 he has been managing the natural resource management unit covering different projects funded by TREE AID and our supporters. Prior to TREE AID, Ludovic has worked for 19 years in development and training of rural communities within NGOs.
Ludovic is a forestry engineer of the Institute of Rural Development (IDR) from the University of Ouagadougou. He also holds a post-graduate certificate in agricultural hydraulics from the Ecole Inter-états d’Ingénieurs de l’Equipement Rural (EIER) in Ouagadougou.

François has worked for TREE AID as a Project Manager since 2009. He worked for 9 years as Executive Secretary of the Réseau Africain d’Appui à la Micro et Petite Entreprise, based in Ouagadougou, covering 15 francophone countries in Africa. He also worked for 5 years Coordinator of Development Programmes in the province of Oubritenga, Burkina Faso. He has an MSc in Economic Science and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management of Small & Micro Enterprises.

Elvis has worked for TREE AID since 2009 as an Enterprise Support Officer. He works on the Forest Connect programme in West Africa.
He has over 11 years experience working in rural development, micro finance and biodiversity conservation sectors. Before joining TREE AID he was Technical Advisor for FAO projects in Cameroon and DR Congo, Central Africa.
He holds a BSc in Geographie-Amenagement et Development, option Marketing et Management, Post graduate diploma in Environmental Geography from the University of Dschang, Cameroon, and a MSc in Forest Ecology and Management from the College of Geo Sciences University of Edinburgh, Scotland.

Françoise graduated in development sociology and in finance & accounting. Prior to TREE AID, she worked for 3 years as management controller at the Catholic Relief Services (CRS).

Prior to TREE AID, as forestry techniques engineer of Institute of Rural Development (IDR), Pierre has worked since 2008 as natural forest management expert for UNDP & FAO projects, then independent consultant for projects and programs on rural development.
Since April 2004, he joined TREE AID as project officer in charge of projects development and monitoring in Burkina Faso, Ghana and Mali. Currently, Pierre is in charge of forest resources management of Village Tree Enterprise Project of TREE AID covering 116 villages in Burkina Faso and Mali.

Victor is an arboricultural technician and environmental trainer. Victor joined TREE AID in 2008 as a facilitator/advisor for Natural Resources Management and the management of forest resources. He worked in Burkina Faso and Mali on the VTE / EC programme. Victor has 20 years experience in forestry research. Before working for TREE AID he worked at the Centre National de Semences Forestières (CNSF), responsible for tree nurseries, vegetative propagation (grafting, assisted natural regeneration), Phytopathology (scientific study of plant diseases caused by infectious diseases and environmental conditions) and the management of an experimental CNSF tree nursery.

Adama Sawadogo, EC VTE project
Adama is currently the longest-serving staff member of TREE AID. He joined TREE AID in its early days in West Africa in 1998. Adama has driven TREE AID staff, donors, and visitors at every place TREE AID has worked for 12 years in Burkina Faso, Mali and Ghana. Since November 2009, Adama was affiliated to the EC VTE Project. Prior to TREE AID, Adama worked for 5 years for SPONG, a network of NGOs in Burkina Faso.
Maxime Sawadogo, Burkina Faso
Maxime has worked for TREE AID since November 2009. He helps TREE AID staff, donors and visitors to deliver the TREE AID programme in West Africa. Maxime has over 22 years experience.
Nouhoun Kodio, Mali
Kodio has worked for TREE AID since May 2010.
He helps our Mali office staff and visitors to deliver the EC VTE Project.
Security Guards
Basga Béré
Basga is the permanent security guard of TREE AID since March 2000. Basga also cleans the premises and waters plants.
Yacouba Ilboudo
Yacouba has worked for TREE AID since 1999 as a temporary security guard and cleaner. Yacouba works at Basga’s rest time to ensure full security and permanent cleanliness in our office in Ouagadougou.
